The FHR coordinated and led the civil society review and edit of the draft South African National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace and Security. The NAP has now been validated and is awaiting approval by Cabinet.

The FHR, alongside its partners the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) and The Human Rights Institute of South Africa (HURISA), successfully launched the Report on the Provincial Consultations at the 65th Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR) and NGO Forum. The launch was opened by the incoming Chair of the ACHPR Commissioner Solomon Dersso and presided over by the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women, Commissioner Lucy Asuagbor. The event was attended by State delegates, civil society organizations and representatives from Lesotho, Cameroon, DRC, Kenya and South Africa.
