New episodes to be developed as part of the #KeepItConstitutional animation series

In continuation of the successful 20-part animation series #KeepitConstitutional which was officially launched in July 2019 (see our #KeepItConstitutional website at, the FHR will develop nine new episodes focusing on issues identified as deserving more focused attention, namely gender-based violence (GBV), the rights of the LGBTI+ people, and the rights of persons with disabilities.

The above new focus areas will each be the subject of three episodes. We have drafted the animation scripts for the GBV episodes with input from civil society organizations (CSOs) dealing with this issue. We have also worked closely with Rumbi Chidoori who is our Gender Coordinator to iron out any contentious issues. We have also drafted animation scripts for the episodes that will focus on the rights of the LGBTI+ people, with input from Robert John Tyrrell who leads our LGBTI+ project. He has been our link to key role-players in this sector and has obtained input from them to ensure that we represent the concerns of the LGBTI+ people in a sensitive manner. All of these additional episodes will have Sign Language interpretation and, as with the first series, will be available in isiZulu, Sesotho, Afrikaans and English. We will also prepare lesson plans for each of the episodes and will test the suitability and effectiveness of these episodes with a pilot run in 4 schools.
