On the 26th of July 2019, the FHR launched an animation series called #KeepItConstitutional, which is available on the website https://www.keepitconstitutional.co.za . This 20-episode animation series is aimed at raising awareness about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The establishment of the #KeepItConstitutional project was informed by the baseline survey of 2018, in which the FHR found that “only slightly more than 50% of South Africans had even heard of the existence of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights”, and that the majority of people that had heard about the Constitution had found out about it at school. Therefore, high schools and learners were an ideal target for the animation series. Since its launch, the FHR has made some headway in trying to roll out #KeepItConstitutional. The series is available in isiZulu; English, Sesotho and Afrikaans, and episodes can be accessed on the website in any of the aforementioned languages. Viewers are encouraged to ask questions, make comments and share the episodes with friends, and all questions are answered in the language chosen by the viewer. The animation episodes are supported by lesson plans which guide teachers on how to use the episodes in an interactive manner with learners. The FHR has also developed 20 radio scripts which relate to the animation episodes, to assist schools that do not have access to computers and Wifi.
