An evaluation of organisations involved in addressing women's issues in South Africa. The Foundation for Human Rights commissioned this study to look at the strengths and weaknesses in the South African women's sector post 1994. The study has a particular focus on lobbying and advocacy to ensure gender mainstreaming which has as its ultimate goal the attainment of gender equality.

Violence against women and girls in South Africa is widespread and imposes significant suffering and hardship - not only on those individual women who fall victim to such crimes, but also their families and communities who are themselves often left bewildered, disrupted and angry in the aftermath of such violence. |
